She did not beat Thuy Linh by grinding her down across every rally. She beat her with four points at the end of Game 1, and three points in the 17-20 stretch of Game 2.

Looking at the movement map, the pattern repeats clearly. When Thuy Linh drops short, Xu drives cross-court to the left corner, forcing her opponent to step laterally, then smashes straight into the gap behind the left shoulder. That gap is only about a metre wide. But it appears exactly when Xu needs it, and it appeared twice in the same game.
